Dear Delegates, Members of the Executive Board, and Representatives of National Medical Organisations,

It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the Autumn General Assembly of the European Junior Doctors Association (EJD), which will take place in Ljubljana, Slovenia, on 6–7 November 2026.

We are delighted to invite you to this important gathering, where representatives of EJD member organisations, members of the Executive Board, and distinguished guests from across Europe will come together to exchange experiences, strengthen international collaboration, and shape common positions on the key challenges facing young doctors today.

For more than fifty years, the European Junior Doctors Association has served as the leading voice of junior doctors across Europe. At a time of profound transformation in healthcare, characterised by workforce shortages, increasing demands on healthcare professionals, and the need to improve resilience and retention, strong international cooperation has never been more important. EJD General Assemblies provide a unique forum for meaningful dialogue, the exchange of best practices, and the creation of new initiatives that benefit both doctors and patients. We are confident that Ljubljana will offer an inspiring setting in which to continue this tradition.

Hosted by the Medical Chamber of Slovenia, this meeting will also provide participants with the opportunity to discover Ljubljana's rich cultural heritage and enjoy the city's welcoming atmosphere. Situated at the crossroads of Central Europe, Ljubljana combines a vibrant academic environment with a long-standing tradition of medical excellence, making it an ideal setting for constructive discussions and forward-looking collaboration.

We warmly invite all EJD members and partners to join us in Ljubljana for what promises to be an engaging and inspiring General Assembly.
We look forward to welcoming you!

Prof. Bojana Beović, MD, PhD
The President of the Medical Chamber

Welcome to Ljubljana

Ljubljana is the capital city of Slovenia. You can encounter Roman remains when walking around the city centre, wander through the medieval town and hike to Ljubljana Castle. There are many lovely buildings to admire: baroque churches, secession-style buildings and works of the renowned Slovenian architect Jože Plečnik. Ljubljana is a very green city, and you can enjoy a stroll through many parks or along the Ljubljanica river and stop for a coffee, a beer or a cake in the numerous coffee shops, pubs and confectioneries.
